Ideas for a pandemic-friendly Valentine’s Day

  1. Make a playlist: Channel your inner Rob Gordon (a la John Cusack in High Fidelity) and create a playlist of every song that reminds you of your significant other. Go all out: you can organize it by genre, order the songs by least to most important, or even record your own song (you know, if that tickles your fancy).

  2. Cook a homemade meal: Bust out the apron and chef’s knife and spend time creating a special meal for your loved one. Consider adding some romantic ambiance with music, a tablecloth, and candlelight. And if you’re really a terrible cook, you can always rely on takeout. Don’t worry, your secret is safe with us. 😏

  3. Have a game night: Show off your gaming prowess with a game night. Try a classic, like Monopoly, or a strong newcomer, such as Codenames. Is this especially Valentine’s Day-related? Not at all. Will you and your partner have a great time? Absolutely. If you want a deeper experience, order a pack from The Skin Deep to really get to know your partner more intimately. They have dating, couples, and even long-term couples editions!

  4. Do a puzzle: Pour a couple glasses of wine and get to work with a Valentine’s Day  jigsaw puzzle (yes, they exist; we checked). Challenge yourselves with a 1,000 piece set. We have full confidence your relationship will survive it.

  5. Take a drive: Load up the aforementioned playlist, start your engine, and take a V-day drive. Even if you have nowhere to go, it can be fun to get out and pretend you’re on your way to an exotic locale.

  6. Have a signature cocktail night: Make up a signature cupid cocktail and enjoy a glass (or three). Bonus points if the drinks are pink, red, or include some sort of heart garnish.

  7. Explore the great outdoors: Whether it’s booking a cozy weekend cabin, going on a hike, or packing a picnic, there are plenty of ways to explore the great outdoors for a date. If you don’t want a bear or moose as a third-wheel, probably best to leave the box of chocolates at home.

  8. Netflix and chill: Get your mind out of the gutter. We meant binging on Bridgerton but hey, no judgement.

What if we can’t actually get together?

Don’t stress if you can’t actually see each other IRL. Here are a few extra ideas of how to make the best of online dating:

  • Do a virtual escape room

  • Watch a concert or your favorite comedian

  • Make and drink your signature cocktails together over Zoom

  • Order a murder mystery gift and crack the clues together

  • Join forces at an online trivia night

  • Take a MasterClass and become experts at everything

The Blink bottom line

We hope the ideas above inspire you to make the most of pandemic-style dating. While there probably won’t be a lavish, seven-course meal at your favorite bistro, there are still lots of creative ways to have fun and make this a Valentine’s Day to remember.
