About your hosts

Badass Animal Rescue is a 501(c)3 dog rescue based in Brooklyn, NY. As a leader in responsible rescue, we rescue the most vulnerable dogs regardless of their breed, age, size, and medical history from underserved shelters and communities in the United States. Fosters provide an essential lifeline to our rescue dogs. Badass does not have a shelter to hold dogs, so the number of lives we can save depends on the number of foster homes available. It takes patience, love, and diligence to help rescue dogs acclimate to city life. The work is hard but always rewarding! This Valentine’s Day, find out how you can generate more love in your life more by fostering (or adopting!) furry companions through Badass Animal Rescue.

Industry City Creative Professional and Singles (and Non-Singles) Meetup!
Jul

Industry City Creative Professional and Singles (and Non-Singles) Meetup!

Join us and Autumn Dawn for a night of networking at Industry City's Building 5 (1st Floor) on July 27th from 6pm-9pm.

Come and connect with future collaborators, actors, actresses, directors, writers, AV Technicians, camerapeople and everyone else who has worked or wishes to work in entertainment and the arts or just has a nerdy affiliation.

This event will be hosted at St. Mark's Comics and The Frying Pan in Industry City. St. Mark's Comics is one of the city's best hidden gems for nerd culture, featuring a lovely gallery of vintage and used comics, toys and games. The Frying Pan is a delectable restaurant and bar serving up seafood and pub favorites. No entry fee for the event but we do ask that you purchase at least one item from either (preferably both) businesses.

The event is a creative mixer as well as a singles meetup. So freshen up those business cards, brush those teeth and put your best foot forward as you could meet the love of your life. If you already have an SO or aren't interested, no worries, you are still welcome! Just mention it upon your entrance and you'll be given a correspondingly-colored lanyard:

*BLACK for networking only

*WHITE for looking for a member of the opposite sex

*BLUE for looking for a member of the same sex

Dress to impress or come as you are and be a part of the snazziest networking event in Brooklyn. You won't want to miss it!

Autumn’s Dawn is an organization that presents the beautiful gap between the overly palatable and the overly pretentious. Did you make a movie that you’re having some trouble submitting to film festivals? A dark comedy that’s too intense for your average comedy festival? A brutal horror whose gore factor isn’t high enough? Some genre blend that makes it difficult to market? Well, we want to see it! Got a horror romance? A grindhouse film noir? A hard-R-rated parody of Teletubbies? All that and more is welcome at Autumn’s Dawn Short Film Festival. They are still accepting submissions for their upcoming festival with a soft deadline on July 28th and a hard deadline on August 18th.

🗓️Date: Thursday, July 27

⏰Time: 6pm

📍Location: Industry City's Building 5

Sober Drag Brunch - Pride Edition
Jun

Sober Drag Brunch - Pride Edition

👑 I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START WITH THIS I'M SO EXCITED 👑 It's a drag brunch. With Nancy Nogood and Emi Grate. At a tiki bar in Bushwick. During 🏳️‍🌈 Pride month 🏳️‍🌈. With a fully non-alcoholic menu. Including bottomless mimosas and bloody's. We'll be popping bottles 🍾. Throwing dollar bills 💵. There will be lip synching. Opera singing. All the shenanigans of an NYC drag brunch, just none of the booze. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR.

🎟️ There are two ticket options:

1. Bottomless (brunch dish + unlimited mimosas or bloody mary's)

2. Brunch dish + 1 drink.

You can purchase additional food and drinks (specialty cocktails!) a la carte. The tickets also include the show and 20% gratuity for the bar staff.

⏰ Seating and food service starts at 2pm, show starts around 3pm and runs through 5pm. SEATING IS FIRST COME FIRST SERVED. We are not doing table reservations, so PLEASE come on time if you're trying to get a good spot and/or want to seat a big group. Some tables may have slightly more limited visibility. COME EARLY.

💵 Bring cash to TIP THE QUEENS. That's how it works. Dollar dollar bills y'all.

🍹 Unlike some of our other events, the brunch will be held at a regular bar (Dromedary Urban Tiki Bar in Bushwick) that sells booze. We'll only be serving the fully non-alcoholic menu during the event, but, well, it's a bar with booze on the shelves. Just a heads up.

🍼 We believe the show is prettttyy family friendly (Nance and Em are angels 😇) and we've had kids as guests, but there will MOST LIKELY be some swearing and uuuhmmm suggestive dancing 😆 Use your own judgment when bringing kids. And please make sure they're well behaved.

Dating Support Q&A Session (with NY Shyness and Social Anxiety Meetup)

It's 2023 and a big resolution many have is to find someone special. Unfortunately, online dating is hard: you've got to message a ton before meeting, the apps can be addicting, empathy can be low, and it's easy to fall into a "just one more swipe..." mindset.

But there's a better way. The New York Shyness and Social Anxiety Meetup invited the founder of Blink Date, Taly Matiteyahu, to lead a discussion to provide advice and answers to common dating questions.
