Spooktober Mini-Series: Classic Dating Thrillers - Friday the 13th
Spooktober is here and aside from the ghouls, ghosts, spirits, and spells surrounding the holiday season, there is nothing better than brisk air, crackling fire, and a spooky story! In the spirit of Halloween, we’ve modified some classic tales as modern day dating stories!
The story and characters below are fictional, of course… but if it sends a shiver down your spine, we hope you’re able to grab the arm of someone (or something? But first maybe check that it isn’t a werewolf!) next to you!
In high school I worked at a sleepaway summer camp with my friends, including a guy named Bill I’d known since I was 3. We flirted a good bit and rode that line of ‘should we / shouldn’t we’ for a while (think Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg from Adventureland, but slightly less awkward). If you’ve ever been a counselor at a sleepaway summer camp, you’ll understand this… but with no service and no “matches” for miles, even the most offbeat of your fellow counselors starts to seem attractive; with his most mostly symmetrical smile and occasionally washed t-shirts, Bill was basically irresistible..
One night - I remember the storms were so bad — I had a really strong feeling something was going to happen between us. I even made sure to shower and apply fresh bug spray!
Sadly, a serial killer ended up murdering all of my friends and I never had a shot with Bill. Oh what could have been…
- Alice — Crystal Lake, NJ
Any similarities to these fictional characters are purely coincidental and probably nothing to be concerned about, but we 100% recommend burning some sage to be safe.
Happy Spooktober!
